Sitemaps
The major search engines have recently adopted sitemaps. Yahoo, Google and Microsoft all now use the Sitemap protocoll. Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling.
Usually these sitemaps are XML files that list the URLs for a site along with some metadata. Therefore crawlers have an much easier job of indexing your site.
Of course there is a Wordpress plugin for generating sitemaps. I personally use this mapsite generator plugin on this blog. One of the great features is that it automatically pings search engines like Google and Yahoo after you implemented it so there is no need to manually submit it. Another benefit is that it automatically prioritizes your posts based on different factors (e.g. comment count).
One thing you should also consider is signing up for Google?s Webmaster Tools. It increases the visibility of your site and provides you with useful information, e.g. which Google queries drive the most traffic to your site. Signing up for this program and adding a web site might also increase your ranking with Google.
