What are the Benifits of Submiting a SiteMap

? Sitemaps make it quicker and easier to have web pages indexed by search engines. Through submitting a sitemap every time you make changes to your website and change the sitemap in accordance to the changes search engines will be informed quicker through the sitemap rather than having to crawl the website to realise there have been some changes made the sitemap will tell the search engines this.

? Sitemaps not only make it easier for search engines to find any new changes that have been made to a website but also make it easier for users of a website to browse and navigate their way through the website. Especially with a website which has hundreds upon hundreds of pages, it can get rather messy in a navigation bar therefore a sitemap is almost essential.

? Sitemaps can also inform search engines of the last date a page was altered, how often your website is updated (daily, weekly, and monthly).

These benefits alone should make it worth taking the time to develop a sitemap, with automated tools you can easily create a sitemap and submit it to Google webmaster tools.
This website will make it easy for you to create a sitemap, http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ this is the website that I have used previously to develop my sitemap.

After you have created a sitemap you can upload and install it on your website and then submit the sitemap to Google webmaster tools here http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/
I am really interested in hearing some of your views on sitemaps, whether you feel they are worth the work that you have to put in to them.

I see many websites when surfing the google search results that have not got a sitemap displayed on their website, and often wonder why not, it does not take that long and i believe its well worth it.

Steps to Get your Website Verfied on Google Webmasters Tools

Google Webmaster Tools is a great resource for any site owner. It?s designed to inform webmasters about how Google bot is interacting with their website. It gives detailed information on broken links, popular keywords and how often Google is stopping by. Most of webmaster questions can be answer if you know what goggle tools are trying to tell you. Webmaster tools can definitely help you increase traffic and gain high page rank.

1. Getting Started

Head over to Google Webmaster Tools and type your URL into the text input box. Make sure that you precede it with ?www? if you intend to set that as your preference later on, because Google won?t allow you to upload a site map if your domain here doesn?t match your preferred domain later. Click the ?Add Site? button once you?re sure.Site owners can add in as many sites as they want. Each site will then have to be verified before Google gives you insight for it.

2. Verify
To verify, you either upload a text file to the root of the website or add a meta tag to the index page. My preference is for the meta tag as it has fewer requirements. If you upload the text file, you?ll also need to ensure that your 404 error pag e is setup properly.

Verifying the site takes only a few seconds but access to the web server is necessary. Verification ensures that you are the site administrator/owner and can get the insight. If you don?t own the site, and you can?t verify it, then Google won?t give you the detailed information.

Once Verified the Google will automatically show you all different kind of information like Google Index Status, Web Crawl Error,
